Negligence problems in young children
At the age of four, my sister suddenly began to have convulsions and was rushed to the emergency unit in a very well known hospital here in my city. Instead of stopping the attack, they took her into the homeopathy unit and tried a new line of drugs on her, which we found out only later. She kept convulsing, lost consciousness and was in that state for over 48 hours. The doctors told my parents she may not come out of it and even if she did, she would not grow up like other normal children due to the extensive brain damage. Now she does not walk or talk and functionally is completely dependent on us. So many people have lost their lives due to medical negligence during a surgery, wrong drugs, allergies, delayed medical attention, drug experiments etc. It is never acceptable when a loved one dies or is functionally impaired for life due to someone’s negligence. Medical personnel take an oath to do all they can to protect the sick. Nobody is asking them to be God and heal them, but they should at least do their best and not make mistakes that could cost someone his life.
